This is your chance to get closer to the heart of innovation in Formula 1 and beyond. We’re looking for the brightest and best, curious engineers who want to build, break and push boundaries. It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity that combines hands-on engineering experience with personalised mentorship and exclusive industry exposure - in partnership with Komatsu and Atlassian Williams F1 Team.

What is the academy?

At Atlassian Williams F1 Team, we believe our people and culture are the driving force behind our future championship success. That’s why uncovering and nurturing the brightest talent from across the globe is central to everything we do.


We’re proud to introduce the Komatsu-Williams Engineering Academy, empowering 10 high-potential students each year with exceptional mentoring and unique opportunities to shape the future of engineering and excel throughout their education.

What's new this year?

The Komatsu Williams Engineering Academy has evolved. For the first time, applications are open globally to first and second year university students participating in Formula Student or FSAE worldwide.


Two routes to apply:


  1. Attending Formula Student UK Finals at Silverstone (Friday 17 July)? 
    Applications open Monday 8 June and close Sunday 21 June at 11:59pm GMT. 

  2. Not attending the Formula Student UK Finals?
    A global virtual application process opens in November 2026. Register your interest for the Komatsu Williams Engineering Academy now, so you don't miss it.

What is the benefit of joining the Komatsu Williams Engineering Academy?

How can I apply?

Application links for our on-site recruitment process will be shared via Formula Student. These are only open for those attending the FS UK Finals on 17th July.

Are students able to attend a race weekend

Attending grand prix races is not guaranteed. Details of the 2027 programme schedule will be released later this year.

How long is the academy?

This depends on your year of study and home country. Our learning platform delivers engineering insight across three years, with early careers opportunities at both Atlassian Williams F1 Team and Komatsu available throughout. We're looking to educate and inspire the next generation of Formula 1 leaders - people who will shape the future of the sport.
